Alors qu'il retrouve son père devant son hôtel, Tony est intrigué par un officier de la Navy qu'il doit finalement abattre lorsque celui-ci pointe son arme sur eux. Seul témoin de la fusillade, Anthony DiNozzo Sr., venu annoncer une importante nouvelle à son fils, est alors interrogé par un inspecteur tandis que Tony est confiné dans les locaux du NCIS. L'homme, déguisé en capitaine de la marine, était en réalité un ancien détective privé déchu, auteur probable d'un meurtre
