Sur le conseil de son médecin, Hercule Poirot décide de partir en vacances à Brighton dans le sud de l'Angleterre. Son arrivée coïncide avec le lancement d'une nouvelle pièce de théâtre «Des perles aux pourceaux» dans laquelle la comédienne principale porte un magnifique collier de perles qui appartenait à la famille royale de Russie. Le bijou disparaît dans d'étranges circonstances. Nouvelle mission pour Hercule Poirot qui est chargé de le retrouver !
