En vacances en Ecosse, une conceptrice d'installation New-Yorkaise se retrouve chargée d'aider une petite communauté rurale à installer des décorations lumineuses et à la faire participer au concours du «Plus Beau Village de Noël», malgré l'intervention d'un riche héritier influent qui perçoit Noël comme un désagrément. Mais la décoratrice et l'héritier se retrouve rapidement contraints de travailler ensemble afin d'apporter un peu de magie à toute la communauté
