Nolan, un brillant étudiant en première année de lettres modernes, a disparu. Il est possible qu'il s'agisse d'un acte de désespoir, mais les inspecteurs Lise Doumère et Dan Levasseur découvrent rapidement qu'il s'agit d'une disparition inquiétante. Le professeur T. demande à intégrer de nouveau l'équipe. Le commissaire Flamand, toujours en colère, finit pourtant par accepter.
